Job Summary
The Sales & Marketing Assistant plays a key operational role in supporting product distribution, customer engagement, marketing promotions, and field sales activities. The position involves delivering dairy products, maintaining customer relationships, and ensuring the visibility and availability of RUKO Establishments Ltd Milk Factory products within assigned territories. This is a hands-on field-based role combining sales, marketing, and driving responsibilities, requiring regular travel, direct customer interaction, and strict adherence to company service, hygiene, and safety standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Sales and Field Operations
- Support the Sales and Marketing Supervisor in implementing daily field sales and marketing plans.
- Visit retail outlets, distributors, and customers to promote and sell company products.
- Take and confirm customer orders, ensure accurate deliveries, and collect payments where applicable.
- Monitor stock levels at customer outlets and report shortages, expiries, or demand trends.
- Safely load and offload products and promotional materials.
2. Product Delivery and Distribution
- Drive company vehicles to deliver dairy products and promotional materials to customers and distribution points.
- Verify delivery quantities, invoices, and delivery documentation before departure and upon delivery.
- Ensure products are transported under appropriate hygiene and temperature conditions.
- Support efficient route planning to ensure timely deliveries within assigned territories.
3. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, retailers, and distributors.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, escalating complex issues to the supervisor.
- Collect customer feedback on product quality, pricing, and service delivery.
- Support customer retention and loyalty initiatives.
4. Marketing and Promotional Activities
- Participate in field promotions, activations, trade shows, and brand visibility campaigns.
- Assist in setting up marketing displays, distributing samples, and explaining product features.
- Ensure promotional materials such as posters, banners, and signage are properly displayed at sales points.
- Report on the performance and impact of promotional activities.
5. Vehicle Operation and Maintenance
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report mechanical or safety issues.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handling conditions of delivery vehicles.
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy, serviced, fueled, and used in compliance with company policies.
- Adhere strictly to road safety regulations and company driving standards.
6. Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of sales, deliveries, customer visits, mileage, and fuel usage.
- Submit daily activity, delivery, and sales reports to the Sales and Marketing Supervisor.
- Track product returns, damages, and inventory movements as required.
7. Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to company policies on product handling, quality assurance, hygiene, and road safety.
- Observe defensive driving practices and occupational health and safety requirements.
- Safeguard company vehicles, products, cash, and other assets during field operations.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce, Logistics, or a related field (added advantage).
- Valid driving license with CM and CH classes added advantage
- Valid driving certificate from a recognized institution (added advantage).
- Defensive driving certification and short courses in sales or customer service (added advantage).
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ experience in sales, marketing, or distribution, preferably within the FMCG or dairy sector.
