Job Summary
The Supervisor – High Value Products is responsible for overseeing end-to-end production operations for yoghurt, ice cream, butter, raw milk reception, and pasteurization. The role ensures consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and full compliance with food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards. The Supervisor plays a critical role in production planning, material management, process monitoring, staff supervision, and loss control for high-value dairy product lines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Operations
- Supervise production of yoghurt, ice cream, and butter in line with approved specifications, batch consistency requirements, and production schedules.
- Oversee raw milk reception, quality testing, and pasteurization processes to ensure compliance with food safety and processing standards.
- Coordinate and monitor critical processing steps including milk standardization, fermentation, mixing, churning, curing, and packaging.
2. Material & Inventory Management
- Interpret production plans and raise timely requisitions for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging materials.
- Track raw material usage across all processes and reconcile inputs and outputs to minimize losses and waste.
- Ensure FIFO stock management and appropriate storage conditions for raw and packaging materials.
3. Quality and Food Safety Compliance
- Monitor and enforce compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP, and UNBS requirements across all high-value product lines.
- Ensure proper hygiene and sanitation of equipment, production areas, and personnel, initiating corrective actions where required.
- Support quality control activities including inline testing, documentation, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
4. Equipment & Maintenance
- Ensure processing equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and operated in accordance with SOPs and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Identify process bottlenecks or equipment faults and coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production records, batch documentation, loss tracking reports, and stock movement records.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly production, utilization, loss, and quality performance reports.
6. Team Supervision & Training
- Supervise operators and technicians across yoghurt, ice cream, butter, pasteurization, and raw milk reception sections.
- Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and performance guidance on equipment handling, SOPs, quality, and safety protocols.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a continuous improvement culture within the production team.
7. Regulatory and Internal Compliance
- Ensure all operations comply with statutory, food safety, occupational health, environmental, and internal company policies.
Education and Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Science, Food Technology, Food Processing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years’ experience in dairy processing, preferably across multiple product lines including yoghurt, ice cream, butter, and pasteurized milk.
- Strong understanding of dairy processing equipment, production workflows, and process control.
- Sound knowledge of ISO standards, HACCP, GMP, and food regulatory requirements.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in multi-line dairy production environments.
- Strong technical understanding of high-value dairy product manufacturing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Navision) is an added advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to quality and food safety.
